“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” ~ Genesis 1:1

Started in 2015, LPC’s Community Garden is organized and run by our Mission Team as a way to demonstrate our love for God and to show compassion for our neighbors. We are to be the stewards of God’s creation of the earth for our use. What better way to use His creation than to plan and tend to a garden that nourishes our body and soul.

Eating fresh organic produce has become very expensive for many in our community. Our garden allows those wanting to eat in a healthy way the ability to do so for very little money for the entire growing season. Also, many of our gardeners donate excess or unwanted produce to the L.I.F.E. Food Pantry in Loveland, thereby providing fresh produce to those most in need of the health benefits of eating fresh vegetables who are unable to join us in the garden.

Studies have found that the mental health benefits of tending to a garden are extensive. Not only can regular gardening reduce mental health problems like depression and anxiety, but it can also reduce stress and combat high blood pressure, as well as improving overall physical fitness. Connecting with nature can have a huge impact on our spiritual and mental health – spending time in green spaces helps people to de-stress, clear their minds, and relax. It also helps people to feel more at one with the world  and our creator, and overcome feelings of self-absorption that can worsen mental health issues.

LPC has established a Community Garden because we feel our property allows us this unique opportunity to provide the space to renew and replenish through gardening. Plot reservations are made in the early spring by contacting the church office. Our chemical free 4′ x 8′ plots lease for $30 for the entire growing season (spring-fall). Two rain barrels and watering cans are located in the garden for watering. We ask that garden members keep their plots and the area surrounding them weed free. Garden members are asked to join us in the spring and fall for two clean-up days. Please contact the church office for more information.
