PASTOR JAMES GOFF

Pastor Jim has been happily married to Jennifer, a German teacher, for  22 years. He is the proud father of Meredith, a college freshman, and Sam, who is in the eighth grade. He and his family reside in Milford, Ohio, and love living and serving Christ and his church in the Cincinnati region.

The Goff family loves sharing quality time together and they are busily involved in various family-related activities. Pastor Jim enjoys college football and physical fitness. He is an avid walker, and although he does not play an instrument, he takes great delight in classical music and jazz. He also likes to read. Pastor Goff was born in Parkersburg, WV, but grew up in Southeastern Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country from 1989-1993. During that time of service, he was part of Operation Desert Storm. He served on deployment aboard the USS Petersen, which was tasked with enforcing the embargo against Iraq in the Gulf of Aqaba in the northern Red Sea. His ship was also tasked with launching Tomahawk cruise missiles in support of the US mission there.

Having received an honorable discharge from the US Navy, Pastor Jim attended Ohio University from 1993-1997. He majored in Organizational Communication and minored in Business Administration. He graduated Cum Laude with a B.S. in Communication. In the summer of 1997, he took his first job after university with Motorists Mutual Insurance Company in its Claims office off Reed Hartman Highway in Blue Ash. He resided in the Oakley area, and after nearly two-and-a-half years. He decided to leave Cincinnati and take a job in Atlanta, Georgia, with Crawford & Company, where he served as a litigation claims specialist for approximately eight years before being promoted into management.

During his tenure at Crawford & Company, Pastor Jim carefully discerned a call from God to leave the insurance and risk management industry and pursue a new vocation serving Christ and his church. He left a promising career and went to Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, from 2005-2008. Upon graduation from seminary, Pastor Jim engaged in a year-long chaplain residency at the Atlanta VA Medical Center before receiving a call to serve a small church in Williamsburg, Ohio. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta in the summer of 2009. He has served at LPC since November 2018.
